Prophet Yunus (AS) and the Whale

From the Qur’an – Surah As-Saffat (37:139–148) A long time ago, there lived a kind and wise prophet named Yunus (AS). Allah sent him to guide his people and teach them to believe in only one God — Allah. But the people did not want to listen. They laughed at him and turned away from the truth. Feeling sad and upset, Prophet Yunus (AS) decided to leave the city. He thought his job was done — but he had not waited for Allah’s command. 🌊 Soon, he boarded a ship to sail far away. But while they were at sea, a huge storm came! Waves crashed, winds blew, and the ship began to sink. To lighten the ship, the sailors decided someone had to be thrown into the sea. They drew names — and it was Yunus (AS). He knew this was from Allah. He said sorry to Allah in his heart and jumped into the water. Then suddenly — a giant whale swallowed him! 🐋 Inside the belly of the whale, it was dark and quiet. But Yunus (AS) didn’t give up. He prayed and cried to Allah, saying: “There is no god but You. Glory be to You! I was truly wrong.” (Qur’an 21:87) Allah heard his sincere prayer. He forgave him and commanded the whale to release Yunus (AS) safely on the shore. Prophet Yunus (AS) returned to his people — and this time, they believed!
