Hajj: A Special Trip to Mecca!

Hey kids! Have you ever heard of a place called Mecca? It's a very special city for Muslims, and once a year, many Muslims travel there to make a special trip called Hajj.

What is Hajj?

Hajj is like a big journey that Muslims who are able to, take to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. It's one of the most important things in Islam, and it's one of the Five Pillars of Islam. These pillars are like the main rules or things that Muslims do.

When is Hajj?

Hajj happens at the same time each year, in the last month of the Islamic calendar, called Dhul-Hijjah.

What do Muslims do during Hajj?

During Hajj, Muslims do a few special things:

  • Walk around the Kaaba: The Kaaba is a very important building in Mecca. Muslims walk around it seven times.

  • Walk between two hills: Muslims walk or run seven times between two hills called Safa and Marwa.

  • Praying on Mount Arafat: Muslims go to a hill called Mount Arafat to pray and ask Allah for forgiveness.

  • Throw pebbles: In Mina, pilgrims throw pebbles at three pillars.

Why is Hajj so important?

Hajj is a very special time for Muslims. It helps them to:

  • Feel closer to Allah.

  • Remember the stories of prophets like Ibrahim.

  • Show that all Muslims are equal.

  • Learn patience and kindness.

Hajj is a big and important journey, and Muslims who go on it feel very lucky. It's a time for them to focus on their faith and be with other Muslims from all over the world!
