Free online Islamic courses for kids
Ilm for Kids is a free, ad-free place where children can learn about Islam at their own pace: reading and memorising the Qur'an, Arabic, the life of the Prophet ﷺ, what Muslims believe, how to pray, duas, good manners and Islamic history. Every course uses stories, pictures, audio and games so that learning feels like play.
Our Islamic studies courses for children
How it works
- Learn at home, any time. Everything works in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.
- Short, friendly lessons. Each chapter takes a few minutes, with a quick quiz or game to check what your child remembers.
- A dashboard for parents. Add each child with a free account and see the lessons, surahs, stories and games they have finished.
- Real Islamic sources. Lessons are based on the Qur'an and authentic hadith, follow mainstream Sunni scholarship, and give fiqh in all four madhhabs.
Questions parents ask
Are these Islamic courses for kids free?
Yes. Every course, story, game and worksheet on Ilm for Kids is free, and there are no adverts.
What ages is Ilm for Kids for?
Most of the site is made for children aged about 4 to 12. Younger children enjoy the stories, games and Qaida with a parent; older children can work through the courses on their own.
Do I need to make an account?
No. Children can start learning straight away. A free parent account lets you add each child, save their progress on any device and see it on the Parent Dashboard.
How can my child learn to read the Qur'an online?
Start with the Noorani Qaida course, where every letter and word can be tapped to hear it. Then move on to Read & Memorise, which plays each ayah so your child can listen and repeat, and use the Hifz Tracker to keep memorised surahs strong.
Which madhhab do the fiqh lessons follow?
You choose. The fiqh course has separate chapters for the Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, so your child learns the way your family practises.
Where does the content come from?
Lessons are based on the Qur'an and authentic hadith and follow mainstream Sunni scholarship. Qur'an text and recitation are loaded from established Qur'an sources rather than typed by hand.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. There are no adverts, no chat with strangers and no links out to social media. Parents can see exactly what each child has done.
